BOOK SUMMARY
Set in the Bible Belt of Deep East Texas, Visiting the Sins is a darkly funny story about mothers and daughters, naked ambition, elusive redemption, and all the torment it's possible to inflict in the name of family.

Down through the decades, the lofty social aspirations of the feisty but perennially dissatisfied Wheeler women -- Pokey, the love-starved, pistol-packing matriarch; Rebanelle, the frosty former beauty queen turned church organist; and Curtis Jean, the backsliding gospel singer -- are exceeded only by their unfortunate taste in men and a seemingly boundless capacity for holding grudges. A legacy of feuding and scandal lurches from one generation to the next with tragic consequences that threaten to destroy everything the Wheeler women have sacrificed their souls to build.

CAT'S REVIEW
"Visiting the Sins" by Melanie Denman.   This is the story told from various points of views of the woman of the Wheeler Family - Pokey, Rebanelle and Curtis Jean.   As soon as I read page one, I was smiling and so glad I decided to give this a chance.   Ms. Denman has done a wonderful job telling the story of these women.  I found myself smiling as it reminded me of times spent with my own sisters.  Family is family and they will stand together and stand up for each other, yet bicker and argue along the way too.  This was an uplifting tale, although there are moments that are not exactly light - but it's a realistic tale. I laughed and cried, as if I was a part of their lives and living through each experience.   On top of that, there's even some mystery involved which, at times, made me a bit nervous to turn the page.  I grew to love these women and even the secondary characters became close to my heart.   Each main character takes a turn telling the story, which at first concerned me that it might become confusing.  However, Ms. Denman transitions from each effortlessly.     This is not my usual story type but I am so thrilled that I decided to read this and will most certainly place it on my TBR again shelf!  (received copy for honest review)
