CODE NAME: ROOK by Sawyer Bennett.  LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!  I am so in love with Rook and this book - Jaime is awesome! Cage is a dreamboat!  What more could you ask for?  Both characters were great and perfect for each other.   Ms. Bennett, of course, doesn't make it that easy on them so she throws in a little lie and a little suspense and danger, and it is the perfect combination.  I couldn't read this one fast enough, yet didn't want it to end.   I smiled, I cringed, I cheered and I yelled - to me, the best reactions when reading a book.   I have enjoyed this entire series and have liked each Hero so much, but Cage (Rook) has stolen my heart!  (received an ARC for honest review)

CAT'S REVIEW

BRANDON by Melody Anne.  This tale encompasses what is truly important in life - family and friends.  That is the main theme and, for Brandon and Chloe, they understand the importance.  I liked both characters - Chloe, independent yet a bit vulnerable, is sweet and dedicated.  Brandon, both sexy and sweet, still feels a bit uncertainty when it comes to his new financial situation.  I adored Joseph - the patriarch of the family and a meddling one at that.   Ms. Anne writes fluidly and is able to inject enough back story from previous books without it overtaking the story.  I have not read the previous books yet was able to follow along and never felt lost.  Ono that note, I plan to check the earlier ones out as I did enjoy this book.  (received ARC for honest review)

WHEN THE STARS FALL by Emery Rose.  Wow!  This is my first read by this author and I can only say WOW!  She blew me away.  I haven't felt so much in a long time.  There is so much raw emotion throughout.  And I absolutely loved the characters - Jude and Lila.  Ms. Rose does and amazing job at growing these characters and developing the story that I could not put it down and my heart was racing the entire time, as I felt I was part of the tale.   This book is high on my favorite list and I look forward to venturing into other works by this wonderfully talented author.  (received ARC for honest review)

COLTON by Marie James.   Whew!  This was one sexy read!  Ms. James throws together a great read that has lust, love, a bit of tension, some lighter moments as well as some suspense and danger.  Colton tries his hardest to ignore the chemistry between him and Sophia and Sophia wants to explore.  Ms. James keeps us readers a bit on edge as to whether they will or won't!  This was a fairly quick read but quite enjoyable.  There is an age gap between the two, and although that is not always my favorite, Ms. James wrote it in such a way that it didn't bother me at all.  This is book 14 of this series, and I have not read the previous ones.  I was able to follow along without a problem, although I think that if I had read them, it would have added just a little more depth to this one.  On that same note, after reading COLTON, I plan to explore the entire series!  (received ARC for honest review)

“I cannot believe we are doing this.” Devin and I took the C train to Columbus Circle and stopped at Starbucks before walking over to the carousel. My partner in crime came dressed for surveillance, wearing head-to-toe black, dark sun- glasses, and a wool cap . . . in July. We were lucky it was New York or she might look like the weirdo she is. I, on the other hand, had on jeans and an Aerosmith T-shirt. Because . . . you know . . . Steven Tyler and those lips. I didn’t even care he was probably pushing seventy. I’d still suck on those babies. 

We took a seat on a bench located to the right of the carousel—not directly in front of it but where we could still see everyone who walked in and out. As we got into position, I started to feel really bad about what we were about to do—invade little Birdie’s privacy. 

“Maybe we shouldn’t do this.” 

Devin put her hand on my shoulder and applied pressure—just in case I tried to get up. “We’re doing this. Don’t even try to make a run for it.” 

I slouched back onto the bench. “Fine.” 

We sat for the better part of an hour, sipping coffee, gossiping about work, and looking around for a little girl and her dad. When I caught the time on my phone, I said, “It’s after eleven. I don’t think they’re coming.” 

“Let’s give it until eleven thirty.” 

I rolled my eyes. But screw it, we were in this far—I might as well go along with the rest of the ride. Otherwise, Devin would never let me hear the end of it. At eleven thirty on the dot, I stood. “Let’s go, Lacey.” 

“Who?” 

“Cagney & Lacey. It was a show my mom used to watch when I was little. It had two women detectives.” 

“Well, which one was hotter? Maybe I don’t want to be Lacey.” 

I laughed. “You can be whichever one you want to be.” 

I turned to throw out my coffee cup in the basket next to the bench and was just about to start to leave when I spotted a little girl and a man who had just turned into the entrance of the park. They were pretty far off, but I thought it could be Birdie. “Oh my God. Sit! Sit! I think that’s them.” 

The two of us planted our asses back on the bench at the same exact time. Devin leaned forward and squinted. “Are you sure?” 

I grabbed her arm and pulled her to sit back. “Don’t be so obvious.” 

We watched, while completely failing at looking casual, as the man and the little girl moved closer. The man was tall, broad-shouldered, and had on a pair of jeans and a T-shirt. He was holding the hand of the little girl. And she had on . . . a bodysuit and tutu. It was definitely Birdie! 

“Oh my God. It’s them!” 

Neither of us said a word as the father and daughter approached the carousel. When they got close enough so I could finally see their faces, I gasped. “Oh my God. He’s . . .” 

Devin grabbed my hand. “I call dibs. I want to have his babies.” 

I couldn’t believe my eyes. While I was expecting a modern version of my dad twenty years ago, the man standing before me was anything but. For the record, my dad is awesome, and he’s not too shabby-looking. But this man . . . was . . . drop. Dead. Gorgeous. Wow. Just . . . yeah. Wow. 

Sebastian Maxwell had dark hair, bone structure to die for, and full, beautiful lips. I’d joked how Devin thought the guy was a super- model, but this man could actually be a supermodel. OFFICIALLY OVER IT by Lani Lynn Vale.  I enjoyed this one - I liked Nathan and I liked Reggie - although they did seem quite the opposites.  Despite their fighting their attraction forever, they were always there for each other.  There is even a crazy ex and some crazy happenings in between these two finding out if they were meant to be.  Keeps the reader on their toes.  For me, it wasn't quite clear why these two kept some secrets but, in the end, it didn't matter really.  As per Ms. Vale's style, there is a love story, lots of family and friends, and some crazy situations that arise.  Ms. Vale certainly knows how to keep the reader entertained and invested throughout a story and this one is no different.  (received ARC for honest review)

ONCE UPON A KISS by Carina Rose.  What a truly romantic tale!  This is a sweet romance that had me swooning.  I adored both Lacey and Drew - they were incredible together.  Ms. Rose does a phenomenal job of making the reader feel throughout the entire story.  Everything about this tale was easy to read and fun to follow.  Lacey is a strong and independent woman, although, to be honest, once or twice I did feel the need to shake her a bit!  But, she comes around.  She meets Drew, who is pretty much the epitome of drool worthy.  Their chemistry was off the charts and the story was just a joy to read.   (received ARC for honest review)
