"Serenades" - Whispering Cove (Nikki Duncan)

"Serenades (Whispering Cove)" by Nikki Duncan - I really enjoyed this book. It's the story of Josh and Aimee.  Josh, a music star, loves his career.  Aimee, a single mom that is a waitress, is content with her life but would love to love and be loved by Josh.  Despite being a big celebrity, I like how Josh is down to earth and recognizes what's important in life.  Aimee is sweet and strong at the same time.  She doesn't want to "trap" him but wants him to be a dad to their daughter.  If you want a quick read that involves two people falling in love and coming to terms with that love, then this should work for you.  This is a fairly fast read but I thought that enough of the background of the two characters is shared that you get to know them.  This is Book 9 of the Whispering Cove series but the first that I read.  I don't think that took away from the story - at the beginning, there were many characters that I obviously didn't know but it didn't take away from Josh and Aimee's story.  Fun, sweet Christmas story! ✔✔✔✔

"Grave Danger" (Rachel Grant)

"Grave Danger" by Rachel Grant.  The story of an archaeologist that discovers a murder victim and is also being stalked but no one believes her.  I found the plot intriguing which is why I requested to read it.  To be honest, it took me quite a while to get into it - although I understand the need for details, some of the details seemed to take up much of the story.  According to what I read, Ms. Grant is also an archaeologist so I understand  her passion for including so many details about the site, etc.  However, to the lay person, I found some of it  a bit boring.
However, I really did like the story of Libby and Mark - the conflict Mark felt and the distress Libby felt was very real.  Once the action started, boy - it was suspenseful too.  My type of book- love, drama, suspense and angst.
I would recommend this book, despite the slow start, once the action picked up, I couldn't put it down which is why I gave it four stars   I look forward to reading more of Ms. Grant's works.   ✔✔✔✔  (received copy from NetGalley)

"Highlander's Captive" (Donna Fletcher)

"Highlander's Captive" by Donna Fletcher.   I have been anxiously waiting for this story- the third of Ms. Fletcher's Highlander's trilogy.  The first two books focus on Dawn and Cree - very entertaining - two of my favorite books.  The third tells the story of Cree's sister Wintra and her relationship with Torr, Dawn's brother.
Wintra is innocent and very inquisitive -having grown up for the most part in an abbey.  Torr is a strong warrior but has a tender side that shines through with Wintra.  When obstacles get in the way of their love, can they overcome?
Despite this being Wintra and Torr's story, I've grown to adore Dawn and Cree and wish there was more of them in the story - this might sound a bit strange, but I missed them.  Dawn especially, was not in the story much.  And when she was, she seemed a bit subdued compared to the Dawn from the other books.   There wasn't as much action in this book as the others, but that was ok - it tells the story of love between two that didn't expect it.
I would recommend this book, however, you might want to read the first two, "Highlander Unchained" and "Forbidden Highlander" first. You don't necessarily have to, in my opinion though as this is more of a stand alone story.  Thank you, Ms. Fletcher, for another enjoyable story.✔✔✔✔

"Santa to the Rescue" (Adele Downs)

"Santa to the Rescue" by Adele Downs. Loved it!
Loved it! Loved it! It was such a sweet holiday story.
Jamey was the true picture of every girl's dreams - a
strong firefighter that is honorable and believes in
forever love. Heather is a sweet, caring pediatric nurse
who, unfortunately, is hesitant to believe in forever love
due to some not so great relationships. Although this is
super short (why I only gave it 4 stars - or rather checks),
I would definitely recommend it. If this is an indication of
Ms. Downs' stories, I look forward to reading more!

"A Vampire's Christmas Carol" (Cynthia Eden)

"A Vampire's Christmas Carol" by Cynthia Eden.    This was a wonderful holiday tale.  The love shared between Ben and Simone was beyond this world, literally!  I was rooting for Ben the whole time and praying that somehow he and Simone would be together again.  Ms. Eden doesn't disappoint - it's a very quick read but so filled with holiday spirit that I would recommend it to all.  Thank you Ms. Eden for another wonderful read!   ✔✔✔✔   (Received an ARC from NetGalley)
