What if the Biblical End Times unfolded in a way no one told you about and the rapture didn't happen before the tribulation began...
"Makes you afraid of the end times again." - D. M. Dutcher for Sword Cross Rocket
"Sanctuary crosses boundaries and borders and incorporates elements of all kinds of action and intrigue, from thriller-like adventure to a post-apocalyptic tale of life after aliens invade. Thus it will delight readers seeking something truly different, while disappointing those who anticipated a shallow, one-dimensional subject and story line." - Midwest Book Review
Left Behind for the Hunger Games generation
In a heart-racing thriller described as Falling Skies meet The Walking Dead, Jennie struggles to find a safe place for what’s left of her family. But it seems as though there is no place sacred, no place secure. First the aliens attacked the sun, making it dimmer, weaker, and half what it used to be. Then they attacked the water supply, killing one-third of Earth’s population with a bitter contaminate. And when they unleash a new terror on humankind, the victims will wish for death, but will not find it…
When the world shatters to pieces around her, will Jennie find the strength she needs to keep going?

When Jennie reached the back door, she saw them. Four large dog-like creatures with pinched faces like bulldogs and lion-like manes. They snarled, and one of them leapt at the window on the top half of the door when it saw her.
Jennie jumped back and fell hard on the cold tile floor. The bottle of painkiller bounced across the kitchen tiles. The creature slammed against the window a second time, cracking it. She blinked hard. Her heart sunk, and the hairs on her arms stood on end. A horrendous gargling howl rent the air, causing a shiver down her spine. She held her breath and waited for the creature to slam into the door again.
“What on earth?” she whispered to herself.
When the third attempt never came, she scrambled toward the door. Blinking hard, she used the door knob to help herself stand. Out the cracked window, her mother was still out of sight, but the last of the dogs headed across the field behind her backyard.
“MOM?” Jennie called out.
The rumbling faded, and the vibrations in her chest receded with the dogs. She pulled open the door and rushed onto their back deck. “Mom, where are you?”
When she reached the banister, she looked over the side. Her mom lay sprawled with one hand on the lattice. Blood gushed from Mom’s leg and her opposite arm. Jennie’s ears rang and flooded with every beat of her heart.
Jennie didn’t know how she got to the second floor of her house, but she found herself shaking her sleeping father. How had he slept through the rumbling? “Outside, it’s Mom…”
Her father leapt from the bed. Mickey, her little brother, lay asleep and undisturbed. Dad ran down the stairs and outside in his flannel pajama bottoms and white t-shirt. He scooped Mom up to his chest and carried her inside. Blood stained his shirt in crimson.
“Jennie, call 911!” Her father had said it at least three times before it finally registered in her brain.
She pulled the cell phone from her pocket, but it refused to connect. With a groan, she grabbed the cordless from the wall receiver, glad her heart stopped pounding in her head so she could hear.
“All operators are busy at this time,” a mechanical voice deadpanned, “Please stay on the line, and the next available operator will take your call.”
“They have me on hold, Dad. Should I hang up and try again?” She held the phone in both hands away from her face.
“No, just stay on the line.” Her father lifted the shredded jeans from Mom’s leg. “It looks like a shark bite. What on earth happened?”
Jennie took in the damage through tear-filled eyes. A huge chunk was taken from her mother’s calf, exposing the fibrous tendons that covered the bone in her leg. A bloodstain grew on the beige couch. Was she going to die? Panic rose up.
“What happened, Jennie?”
“I...I...They looked like lions, or dogs, or something. The rumbling shook the whole house…I tried to go outside to get Mom, but—” A sob blocked her throat.
Her father grabbed a throw pillow and held it against the leg. Mom’s exposed forearm laid across her chest in much the same condition as her calf.
“Grab me the duct tape.”
Jennie suddenly remembered the phone, put it back to her ear, and headed to the hall closet. She reached for the shelf above the jackets and grabbed the junk basket next to the toolbox.
“Please stay on the line. An operator will be with you shortly.”
She shoved the phone in the crook of her neck and fished through the box. Half the contents dropped around her feet. Who cares? When her fingers wrapped around the silver duct tape, a short-lived relief sent prickles down her arms. But the urgency gripped her chest in less than a heart beat, and she threw the junk basket on the ground with the rest of the items.
“Hurry, Jennie!” her father called from the living room. “And turn on the TV. Maybe they’ll have something about what’s going on.”
She handed her father the tape and turned toward the TV. The mechanical voice on the phone came through again, followed by more easy listening.
When she clicked on the TV, the shouting and wailing began before the picture warmed up on the screen. A sideways picture of New York City broke through, with the shaky voice of the newscaster voicing over.
“What we are watching now – I can’t believe it – is live footage of Times Square,” the newscaster’s voice paused for a deep breath. “We’ve lost our man on the scene and his camera man to what appears to be some kind of new alien creature. Just a short half-hour ago, the doors to the ship that hovered above Central Park opened and these dog-like creatures flooded out.”
Jennie couldn’t pull her eyes from the screen. She straightened and dropped the phone on the hardwood. The battery popped out and skidded across the floor.

She needed a hero; instead, she got Cade.

Cade was no hero. He was a nomad, a wanderer with no ties and he liked it that way. Hired out to save Fat Louise and her spoiled sister from a cartel run Mexican city was a risk he was willing to take, for the right price. With a certain gray eyed woman on his mind, he sets out to find her, fuck her and forget her. No harm, no foul. But it's all easier said than done when it comes to this plain Jane.

He expected a biker bitch who knew the rules; instead, he got Fat Louise.

Fat Louise wasn’t about to put her crew in danger. She had to learn to handle problems on her own, even if they included a six-foot biker she was forced to rely on, if she was going to rescue her sister. She never expected to see Cade again after she'd left Mexico, but all it takes is one night with him to prove that even a bitch’s heart can be broken.

"I was born in a small town in Kentucky. My family began poor, but worked their way to owning a restaurant. My mother was one of the best cooks I have ever known, and she instilled in all her children the value of hard work, and education.

Taking after my mother, I've always love to cook, and became pretty good if I do say so myself. I love to experiment and my unfortunate family has suffered through many. They now have learned to steer clear of those dishes. I absolutely love the holidays and my family puts up with my zany decorations.

For now, my days are spent writing, writing, and writing. I have two children who both graduated this year from college. My daughter does my book covers, and my son just tries not to blush when someone asks him about my books.

Currently I am writing five series of books- The Last Riders, The VIP Room, Predators MC, Biker Bitches, and The Dark Souls.

All my books are written for one purpose- the enjoyment others find in them, and the expectations of my fans that inspire me to give it my best.”

CAT'S REVIEW

"Hot Ice" by Lynn Raye Harris.  This is the 7th book in the series.  I have not read all of the books but have read several.  Although not necessary to read all to enjoy this one, it does help with background on other characters, including the main villain in this one.  Now, onto the story and characters.  Grace Campbell, a scientist and a senator's daughter, is wanted by some not so nice people for what she can do in the lab.  Garrett "Iceman" Spencer is ordered to be her bodyguard.  The action and suspense was a bit slower than in previous HOT stories I've read.  It mostly consisted of the two of them on the run.  While on the run, there is some really HOT scenes between the two!! ;o)  The action does pick up a bit towards the end when it all comes to a head.   I like Iceman - he's a tough, sexy alpha but has a tender side, despite his rough demeanor.  He loves his little girl beyond words and that alone males one sexy guy!  I had a much harder time liking Grace.  Throughout she was labeled as "shy" yet I didn't see that - she was really quite witchy (yes, I meant something else).  She used her daddy's position too often for someone that was supposed to be shy.  To me, she was a total snob.    To be totally honest, I wasn't sure what Garrett saw in her and that irked me a bit because I like to like my Hero's girl, especially when I really like the Hero.  I have to say, Grace did transform a bit at the end and I did grow to like her a bit more.  Overall, this HOT novel was ok for me.  I'm glad I read it but, again, didn't enjoy it quite as much as I have other HOT novels.  (Received copy from NetGalley/publisher for honest review)

CAT'S REVIEW
"Against the Sky" by Kat Martin. This is the second book of the series. However, I have not read the first and had no problem following and never felt lost. Works perfectly as a standalone. Now to the story - Samantha meets Nick while in Las Vegas. You know what they say - what happens in Vegas!! However, circumstances arise that bring them back together. Nick lives in Alaska so Samantha goes to visit him (she's from San Francisco). Danger erupts during her visit putting her in all sorts of scary situations. Nick is a tough, former Ranger and police officer yet he is super kind and loving. I thought he was fantastic with Samantha. I have to say, Samantha annoyed me quite a bit. She seemed sweet and nice and kind yet she seemed to have written off any possiblity of a relationship with Nick, due to their home locations. She professed her love (at least to herself) but never once thought of a way to act on it. She seemed a bit selfish and shallow to me. The story also seemed to move a bit slow - there was a lot of time spent on the computer and doing some recon too. However, when there was action, it did get a bit intense. Overall, this was an ok read for me - I enjoyed it but was hoping for a bit more. (Received copy from NetGalley for honest review)

Katie Rose’s Boys of Summer series returns for a delicious double-header—with the story of total opposites who are drawn to each other like moths to a flame.

Nikki Case is no fan of baseball. Her ex gambled away a fortune on the sport, and now her PR firm has tasked her with cleaning up the league’s most notorious bad boys. “What are you doing here?” the redhead spat, her green eyes blazing.
“Working,” Desiree sneered, pouring a drink for emphasis. “You know, real job?”
“Come on, Jake, let’s get out of here.” The redhead gave the bartender a look that could shoot daggers.
Desiree smiled. “See you later, Jakey. Once you’re done wasting your time with her.”
The redhead looked from Jake to the other woman and approaching the bar, poured the glass of tequila over the bartender’s head. Desiree gasped, the clear liquor trickling down her hair and onto her forehead. Grabbing a towel, she rubbed the sting from her eyes, mascara smearing, and then sprang up onto the bar, livid with outrage.
“Oh, no.” Ryan tried to insert himself between the two women, but even his massive form wasn’t enough to keep them apart. A true Jersey catfight ensued even as Jake tried to pull his date out of the grip of the furious bartender.
Chase came around the bar and tried to break it up, but all he got for his trouble was a face full of beer meant for the redhead. A tough-looking thug who’d been eyeing up Desiree all evening jumped into the fray and punched Jake, correctly assessing him as the source.
Without hesitation, Jake hit the man back and within seconds, the entire bar had joined the fight. The redhead pulled Desiree’s hair and wound up with a handful of platinum extensions, while the blonde brought her to the ground.
The two women rolled on the marble floor, screaming and cursing, while manicured fists tried to make contact. Darcy leaped up and grabbed the security guard, and then tried to pry Chase out of the mass of flailing limbs. She pulled him away just as he threw up his arm to protect her from a flying beer bottle, while the guard tried to stop the brawl. Jake accidentally punched Chase, his fist connecting neatly with the pitcher’s chin, and took a hit to the gut in retaliation.
The bouncer quickly called for help, and two cops showed up in record time. The lounge looked like something out of an old western as drinks flew along with fists. One of the officers grabbed a pitcher of ice water and unceremoniously threw it on the two women. The redhead let out a howl, giving the man the opportunity he needed to get her off the bartender.
“Break it up!” the other policeman shouted, hauling the brawlers away one by one. He had to call for reinforcements, but once security arrived along with the hotel manager, they were finally able to round up the instigators and hoist them down to the police station. Cell phones flashed, Twitter tweeted, and YouTube exploded. Within minutes, the Sonics’ fight hit social media everywhere as the fans re-tweeted the incident and shared the videos.
By morning, the Jersey team was headline news.

CAT'S REVIEW
"Too Hot to Handle" by Katie Rose.  This is the second book of the series, however, I did not read the first and in no way felt lost. It can easily be read as a standalone.  The book tells the story of Nikki and Jake.  Jake, a baseball player, is known to be a womanizer and enjoys living the life of a baseball star.  Nikki, a PR person sent in to reform the image the team and it's players present, is comes across straight-laced and strong.  Jake, on a bet, works to get past Nikki's frosty exterior and make her fall in love.  I liked Jake.  Beyond his public image, he was a caring soul that looked out for his family and others less fortunate.  It took me a bit longer to like Nikki - she comes across a bit snobby at first, but this seems to be a cover.  By the end, I did like Nikki and Jake together - the bedroom scene were quite steamy!  The story was an enjoyable one but a typical romance.  There weren't any real surprises and as the reader, I could predict what was coming next.   However, it is still a fairly light read that is an enjoyable baseball story for those sports/romance fans out there!  (Received copy from NetGalley for honest review)
