"Tempting Tristan" (Melissa Foster) ★★★★★ with GIVEAWAY!

Looking for your next sexy M/M romance?

A M/M Contemporary Romance
Harborside Nights #3
Melissa Foster
Releasing Oct 19th, 2016
World Literary Press

Fresh off the heels of yet another bad relationship, Tristan Brewer is taking a break from men to try and figure out where he keeps going wrong. He knows his biggest fault—he leads with his heart, not his head—and that’s never going to change. But after several introspective weeks, he’s beginning to get a handle on things. That is, until badass heartthrob Alex Wells walks into his bar…

Alex has spent eight years in the Army, months in a hospital bed, and far too long hiding his sexual identity. He’s guilt-ridden, damaged, pissed off, and up for a Silver Star—for the incident that nearly cost him his life, and kept him from his grandmother’s funeral. But all he wants to do is forget his stint with the institution that allows but doesn’t necessarily accept, and live the life he’s always dreamed of.

The chemistry between Tristan and Alex ignites from the moment they meet, and the more time they spend together the hotter the flames become. But the closer Tristan gets, the more Alex’s walls go up, and when the two walk onto a military base, Tristan finds out Alex’s physical scars aren’t the ones that run the deepest.

We step forward at the same time, and he presses his rough hand to my cheek. “I don’t know what kind of pussies you went out with before, but I wanted to fucking claim you in there.”

He slides a hand around my waist, tugging our bodies together. I feel every hard inch of him, and he’s got me so hot I’m sure we’re going to combust.

“I’ve spent almost nine years hiding who I am, and I’m not willing to do it anymore,” he says through clenched teeth. “Not here, where I came to start over. Where I came to live on my terms without the goddamn military hanging over my head.”

“I have no interest in hiding,” I assure him.

“You’re sure? Because I really want to kiss you right now, and I don’t care who sees us.”

I respond by pulling his mouth to mine, my break from men long forgotten. We stumble backward, crashing into the railing, fighting for dominance as we did yesterday morning. The passion between us has a life of its own. My hands claw over his ass, up his back. I want to strip him down and take all of him. I want to discover why he’s so rough and learn what about those shadows that are lurking behind his gorgeous eyes. Instead I take, and give, and take more of the angry kisses. When we finally tear our mouths apart, my body’s still reeling, and we both curse under our breaths.

“Okay?” he pants out.

I nod, knowing if I open my mouth, I want to fuck you, is going to come out.

"Tempting Tristan" by Melissa Foster.  Well, what can I say?  Ms. Foster has once again written a tale that is emotionally gripping yet sweet and tender.   Our main characters, Tristan and Alex are about as swoon worthy as a male can get!  They are both now high up on my book boyfriend list! (yes, even though they are gay!)  Tristan, having gone through a recent breakup, is wary to give his heart away.  Alex, recently out of the military, is finally able to be his true self yet is fearful due to the scars that being in the military has caused - both physical and emotional.  What they cannot deny are the sparks flying and the connection that is astounding.  I adored how these two cherished each other and supported one another.  It was such a pleasure watching the love grow between them.  Of course, there are obstacles along the way, but such is life.  Ms. Foster has written a beautiful love story that encompasses the true meaning of a soul mate and true love.  The only small drawback I found was the switching between the two characters' POV.  While I do enjoy stories that use this technique, sometimes it was switched quite often and I would have to check to see which was speaking/thinking.  Despite that, "Tempting Tristan" has become one of my favorites that I will certainly re-read and recommend it over and over.  (received copy for honest review)

"Bottom of the Ninth" (Jami Davenport) ★★★★★ with GIVEAWAY!!

Bottom of the Ninth: Seattle Skookums Baseball
Game On in Seattle #6
By: Jami Davenport
Releasing October 21, 2016
Cedrona Enterprises

This long-awaited story of the third Wolfe brother introduces the Seattle Skookums baseball team.
Zeke Wolfe, the man who’s written off his entire family, rescues a young woman and three children on a stormy Seattle night. Before he knows it, he has an instant family and a fake fiancé he’s certain he doesn’t want.

Paisley Madison dreams of having a real home for herself and her sister's children. When a handsome baseball player drops into her life, she knows a gift when she sees one and hires herself as his assistant.

As their business arrangement turns into something much more personal, Paisley and Zeke's pasts threaten to destroy their precarious hold on a future together. Can they conquer their demons and find love, or will they run from their pasts and abandon their future together?

Paisley startled awake early. She bolted upright and winced when her back protested. Ignoring her whiny body parts, she blinked several times and squinted, attempting to get her bearings. The morning sun cast beams of light across the room and over the sleeping children. Last night flooded back to her in a rush of confusion and hope.
Being drenched. The hot baseball player. The old, creepy house. The pizza.
Checking each child to make sure they were all still asleep, Paisley rose, stretched, and padded out of the bedroom in her bare feet. The place didn’t look so creepy in the daylight. In fact, despite the obvious neglect, it was beautiful. She took her time exploring each room, except the closed door to Zeke’s room.
Zeke. Holy mother of all creation, he was hot. And he was wealthy. She wasn’t a gold digger by any means, but he had the money to pay her for a job well done, which had her wheels turning. She believed in making wine out of any beer that life threw her way. She’d keep her hands off and prove her value to Zeke. He needed someone to manage his life and battle the dust and spiders staking their claim on this grand old house.
He needed her.
Zeke’s house wasn’t just a house; it was a mansion by her standards. Much to her delight, it was perched on a hill among older homes overlooking Seattle and the water. She couldn’t wait to explore the stately old neighborhood. What she could see from the windows indicated the other homes were well kept, unlike Zeke’s. His yard needed as much work as the inside. She’d tackle that project, too.
Yeah, the poor man really needed her, and she’d make sure he knew it.
The house had seen better days and was in need of updating and TLC, but the potential shone through like an unpolished diamond among common rocks, and the view was priceless.
Last night’s deluge gave way to a partially cloudy morning with patches of blue sky. Rays of sun bounced off drops of rain on the leaves of nearby trees. The sun lit up the large expanse of water below. She hadn’t a clue whether it was part of the ocean or something else.
A few rooms in the house were stacked with boxes. Stray pieces of furniture were placed here and there. Zeke didn’t appear to have much in the way of personal belongings. She added shopping for furniture to her assistant to-do list. She’d create a design for each room with an overarching theme among them. Judging from the age of the house and the style, she’d opt for mission style, one of her favorites.
Paisley rubbed her hands together in glee, excited and ready to get started with her day. The kids could help. On Monday, she’d need to enroll them in a local school despite their lack of an actual home. During her nosy explorations she’d found a temporary option. The daylight basement level of this house had been converted into an apartment. It had big windows looking into the backyard and down the hill.
Perfect for her and the kids, and perfect for keeping them out of Zeke’s hair.
Now to work on selling her worth to Zeke. Her strict adherence to maintaining a positive outlook in all situations—last night being an exception—would serve her well. Zeke was a busy athlete just starting the season. Baseball players played over one hundred and fifty games a year, not counting playoffs. He’d be gone a lot to away games.
He absolutely needed her. Oh, yes, he did. She skipped up the stairs, singing a nonsensical happy song the kids loved. Cracking the door, she checked on them again. They were dead to the world. She couldn’t resist a glance into the room Zeke slept in. His suitcase was open on top of a rumpled comforter, but true to his word, he’d left early this morning. She’d heard his SUV as it backed out of the garage.
With a big grin on her face and a bounce in her step, she started her chores in the kitchen, giving it a thorough scrubbing after finding cleaning supplies under the sink. Later, she’d unpack dishes and put them in the cupboards.
The kitchen was beautiful under all the grime and dust. It’d been remodeled recently and had gorgeous wood cabinets, granite countertops, and stainless steel appliances with a professional stove and oven. The previous owners must have run out of money during the kitchen remodel. The backsplashes were missing and the walls were unpainted, as if someone had stripped off layers of wallpaper, then left.
She stood back, hands on hips, and surveyed her work. The kitchen was gleaming. Everything was in its place.
Zeke would be pleasantly surprised.

"Bottom of the Ninth" by Jami Davenport.  This is Zeke and Paisley's story and a heartwarming tale it is.  I adored Paisley.  Despite having some hardships in life, her outlook is bright and she is a smart and strong woman that is filled with love and laughter.  Zeke, despite being known as "Mr. Clean", comes across a bit harsh but, as we learn his history, it comes to life his hard learned lessons and is understandable. The two together were exactly what the doctor ordered!  The sparks fly, yes, but it's the emotional connection that got me and wouldn't let go.  The storyline is one of anguish and hurt and some really deep pain yet it also shines with hope and love too.  There is more than just the sports theme too, I enjoyed the old house makeover as well as the inclusion of the kids too.  Children in a story always make my heart sing, especially as they melt the heart of one of the characters as these three do.   Ms. Davenport has written this tale that is emotionally gripping yet had me smiling and chuckling at times too.  I couldn't put it down.  Having read the previous books, it was a joy to reconnect with those characters as well and Ms. Davenport did a wonderful job of bringing it all together.   I believe this is my favorite in the series, although the previous stories also grabbed hold of my heart too.  (received copy for honest review)

"Pull Me Close" (Sidney Halston) ★★★★★ with GIVEAWAY!

Pull Me Close
The Panic #1
By: Sidney Halston
Releasing October 25, 2016

Welcome to Panic, a sultry Miami nightclub where bodies and hearts move to a beat that doesn’t stop at sunrise—the setting for an emotionally charged series from the bestselling author of the Worth the Fight novels.

When Katherine Wilson passes out in the arms of the hottest man she’s ever seen, it’s not because of the lights, the pulsating music, or the crowded dance floor. It’s because she can’t enjoy a night out like a normal person, not with her debilitating anxieties. These panic attacks are going to destroy her life unless she takes control—or gets a helping hand. So after the club’s bad-boy owner personally escorts her home, Katherine feels something urgent and primal awaken inside of her.

Nick Moreno doesn’t need a headache like Katherine. A drug bust has put his father behind bars and forced Nick to take over the daily business of his family’s South Beach nightclub. His head tells him to walk away—but his body has other ideas. Katherine’s vulnerability, her grace and courage, compel him to reach out. And when they kiss, Nick is overcome by desire: to pull her close, and promise that his embrace will always be the safest place on earth.

“Do one thing that scares you every day,” I say to myself as I walk to the elevator.
I keep thinking that if I can get in that stupid elevator, I can go to my sister’s wedding. Because nothing can be worse than being in a tiny steel box held up by a cable. If it malfunctions, either I’ll plummet to my demise or I’ll be stuck inside, helpless and in the dark.
For weeks now I’ve walked over to it every day, pressed the button, and then run back to my apartment when it dings open, like it’s a monster coming to get me. I know that I’m working myself up. I know what reality is, and I understand the extremely low statistical likelihood that any of the things I envision will actually happen. I’m not completely insane. But I also can’t help the fear that bubbles up inside me and distorts my logic.
Today, however, I woke up with a new sense of bravery and determination and I’m going to take advantage of it.
I know that the cable is made of steel and it will not break.
I know that the elevator is in working order.
I know that it takes only 22.9 seconds from the time it closes on the fifth floor to the time it opens in the lobby.
Still, I’m nervous. Less so then previous days, though.
I dial Nico because even with everything that I know, I need someone with me.
“My sweet Katherine,” he says over the music in the background.
“I need you.”
I notice the change in him, even over the phone. “Wait, what? I’ll be right there.”
The fact that he is so quick to rush to my rescue is heartwarming, but I don’t need him physically here, so I clarify quickly. “No, no, no. Stay there. That’s not what I meant. I need you to stay on the line with me.”
“Okay. Hold on a second—I need quiet. I can barely hear you.” I hear the music become quieter and quieter. “All right. What’s going on?”
“If I say the safe word and tell you to call the police or firemen or whatever, just do it, no questions asked, okay?”
“What?” He sounds alarmed. “What the hell is going on, Katherine?”
“I’m getting on the elevator and I’m going to the lobby. If it gets stuck, I need you to call for help.”
“For fuck’s sake, Katherine, you scared the hell out of me.” He lets out a breath. “Okay, I’ll wait on the phone. Or do you want to wait for me to come over? I can be there in ten minutes and do this with you,” he says while I press the button.
“No. I need to do this alone. Also, what good would it do me if you’re stuck in there with me?”
“It’s not going to get stuck,” he says with a chuckle, and I can practically hear him rolling his eyes on the other end of the line.
“So how’s the club tonight?”
“I heard the ding, baby. Stop procrastinating and get inside.”
I look at the open door. The elevator car looks so ominous, and now I don’t know if I can do it.
“Get that cute little ass in the elevator.”
“Never mind—I changed my mind.”
“No. You’ve never called me for this before. You’re obviously feeling good about it. I’m proud of you for doing this.”
As the door starts to close I press the button again, and the closing doors reopen.
“So get inside. You can do this.”
“Nico, I don’t—”
“Yes, you can. Don’t finish that sentence. You’ve done more in the last few weeks than you’ve done in a long time. You can absolutely do this. I know you can. Don’t you want to be free?”
I do. Damn it, I do. I take a step and then another one. My feet feel heavy and my heart is beating a mile a minute. I can hear that he’s breathless too.
Corazón, just roll with it. Get inside,” he says softly.

Cat's Review

"Pull Me Close" by Sidney Halston!  All I can say is Ms. Halston has, once again, written a tale that gripped my heart and held it close. Katherine, our heroine, suffers terribly due to a tramatic event earlier in her life.  Nico, having suffered heartbreak and heartache recently, is a bit grumpy and very unhappy.  Katherine is the epitome of a heroine.  Despite her fears, she is brave and courageous.  She is also understanding and sweet.  I loved her vulnerabilities and the fact that she knew who she was and wanted to change.  Nico, besides being uber sexy, is a tough and controlling type of guy.  However, he is exactly what she needs and vice versa.  I could not put this book down! I turned each page eagerly awaiting to see what would happen next.  Oh, and Ms. Halston does a great job of throwing in a twist or two as well.  Throughout the story, my heart hurt and rejoiced and I smiled and cried.  So many emotions yet Ms. Halston handles it all in a style that keeps the reader fully engaged and involved.  For the first book of a new series, Ms. Halston has hit this one out of the park and I anxiously await book two!  (received copy from NetGalley for honest review)

He turned to find Mad standing in the doorway of the small room holding a towel and dragged his eyes hungrily from her bare feet, over the lines of her comfy gray pants, to her soft-blue, scoop-necked T-shirt, ending at the shiny onyx waves of hair that framed her lovely face.
His breath caught as he stared into her eyes, recognizing the girl he’d known in the mouth-watering body of the full-grown woman before him and feeling blessed beyond measure to have this glimpse of her that he suspected few were privy to: Mad Rousseau without the heels and chignon—heart-stoppingly beautiful and utterly captivating au natural.
He cleared his throat and she grimaced, dropping her eyes to her toes and the towel to the arm of the sofa.
“I’ll get us some tea,” she murmured, slipping away in a hurry.
Cort stared at the space she’d vacated so quickly, feeling confused, wondering what the heck had just happened. Why had she grimaced? Why had she looked…disappointed? Picking up the towel as he followed her to the kitchen, he pushed open the swing door and stood just inside of it, scrubbing the rainwater from his hair as he watched her work in the small space. She finished filling a kettle with water and placed it on the stove, finally glancing up at him sheepishly.
“Not a good look for me,” she said softly, standing up on her tiptoes to open a cabinet over the microwave. “I’ve already been told. Multiple times.”
“I’m sorry…you’ve been told what exactly?” he asked. He looped the towel around his neck and stepped toward her, reaching over her head for the mugs she wanted. He held them out to her, and she flicked her glance to them before gesturing to her clothes.
“That I can do better than sweats and a T-shirt.” She shrugged. “But I was wet and cold and tired. I didn’t feel like putting on another outfit, so I—”
“I’m sorry. Wait a minute,” he said, putting the mugs down on the counter and staring at her in disbelief. “Are you apologizing to me for the clothes you’re wearing?”
She gestured helplessly with one hand. “I saw the way you looked at me.”
“Baby,” he said, reaching out to touch the soft-blue fabric covering her shoulder and running his fingers over the small sleeve of the T-shirt, then down the length of her arm, “you look good enough to eat. You look beautiful. And anyone who thinks different is a blind fucking lunatic.”
“Cort,” she gasped, her eyes softening as she stared up at him.
“I’m serious. The pencil skirt and fancy hair? Gorgeous. Sure. But this?” He let his eyes roam slowly, intently over her form, pausing at the luscious mounds of her breasts before stopping at her lips as his fingers threaded through hers. “This is you, Mad. And you’re…” He shook his head looking for the right words, but only one circled around and around in his head. “Baby, you’re music.”

Her body slid behind his, spooning him. She wrapped her arms around his torso, clutching him tight, and he took off down the road. The rain beat against his skin, attempting to cleanse him, but there was no wiping away the dirty thoughts going through his mind. He took the long way back to his place to feel her against him longer, and to try to wrangle his desire so he wouldn’t be tempted to take her straight to bed when they arrived.
He slowed to a stop behind a stop sign and glanced over his shoulder to look at her. Her hand slid down from his waist and into the front of his jeans. Fuck. He’d heard preachers’ daughters were wild, but he’d thought it was a myth. With her hand snug against him he turned left and pressed the gas, heading home. Trooper was waiting. And he needed to get his mouth on this woman, to kiss her stupid and hope her hands continued exploring.
He pulled into his driveway and helped her off as the rain began to fall harder. She didn’t squeal and run toward his covered porch the way some women would. Instead, she stared at him as he lifted the helmet off her head. She didn’t flinch as her shirt began to stick to her in all the right places. He leaned toward her, cupping his hands around her face and leading her mouth to his. She melted against him, sealing her wet body to his. Damn. Her lips were soft, the kiss hungry, devouring him like he was the best thing she’d put in her mouth all day.
“I want you,” he said, pulling back from her mouth, but continuing to hold her. The words were meant to be a warning. “I want you so fucking much.” He half expected her to slap him. They barely knew each other. She had a wild streak and a smart mouth, but overall he thought she was the good-girl type. Not the type to give herself so easily. Even if he could’ve sworn she was ready the other night.
“Take me inside,” she said, going up on her toes and kissing him again, wrapping her hands around the back of his head, pressing her body tighter against him. “We’re getting wet out here.”
The rain. She was talking about the rain. A nice guy would escort her inside and help her get dried off. Which was exactly what he intended to do. But he didn’t plan on stopping there.
